While trends certainly come and go, there are a few things in fashion that will always remain relevant: a classic button-up shirt, the little black dress, Manolo Blahnik pumps, and metallic shades for the fall season!
There is something about the shine of mixed metals (think 18K gold vermeil, gunmetal, and sterling silver) along with the radiance of stones like hematite and pyrite, that make me excited for cooler weather. Given that we wear so many layers during this time (all my East Coast readers can relate!), I think metallic tones provide a necessary dose of interest to any outfit. Not to mention, they are perfect for festive gatherings like holiday parties, anniversaries, or a winter birthday bash! I’ve also noticed that plenty of fashion designers co-signed my love of metallics this season by incorporating them into their fall 2016 runway looks. Don’t believe me? Just browse through the latest collections of designers like Suno and Alberta Ferreti. Even Ken Downing, Fashion Director at Neiman Marcus, listed “Bold Gold and High Shine Metallics” as the number one trend on his Fall 2016 must-have List!
The newest pieces to hit the Dina Mackney e-boutique certainly follow suit in the realm of metallics. High wattage interpretations like the Tri Metal Petal Cuff, Diamond Pave Necklace, and Rock Crystal Enhancer on Gunmetal Snake Chain will keep you in style for seasons to come. In each of these pieces, I allowed the tones to do the talking, gravitating towards metals and stones that could stand on their own. I tempered the star power of 18K gold vermeil and sterling silver with clean, modern lines (an essential element in all my designs!). If mixed metal is a bit too daring for you, I suggest sticking to the classic sheen of gold on a pair of timeless earrings that have a unique twist. Look to pieces like the Gold Drop Clip Earrings or our signature Gold Geo Hoop Earrings to amp up a simple chunky knit sweater and denim combo.
Once you’ve selected your metallic pick for the season, be sure to show me how you wear the trend by tagging your social media images with the #mydina tag. I love connecting with you and can’t wait to see your personal take on “high shine metallics!”
